My drinking tube still froze before I even had time to drink any water. Wouldn't recommend this for use in anything near 20 degrees. Swapped out the mouth piece though so I can still use it to insulate my water in the summer. Besides the fact that it didn't work, the neoprene seems good and the mouthpiece cover is nice and easy to use with gloves.

My husband and I purchased the thermal control kits for our standard Camelbak hydration packs. The conversion was quick and easy and didn't require tools. We also added the HydroLink filter adapter. This combo kept our water supply cooler in the drinking tube and made filling from our filtration system a cinch! My husband also found the water stayed cooler while fighting wildland brush fires here in So.Cal. As for cold weather, we have yet to use the system in subfreezing temperatures. We will update our review after our next winter trip. All in all the Pro's: Easy install and an effective system. Cons: The first swill of water will be warm in the summer months.

Excellent performance - easy to convert and with quick link easy to maintain.Insulation and the cover do help to prevent freezing of the liquid. "Tested" at 12,000 elevation at 5F.
