Waterproof compression at its lightweight finest, the Pneumos (noo-moes) define lightweight compression and are the original valved compression stuff sack. Now a lighter 30D rip stop shell makes this classic even lighter and three new colors makes organization and identification of your gear a snap. The fabrics lightweight, durable PU protection along with a two way deflation/inflation valve allow you to compress your loads for more compact packing or inflate them for canyoneering, adventure racing or even use as a pillow. This is the improved bag within my bag and the one I currently endorse as my liner and organizer within my rucksack. This Pacific Outdoor Equipment brand (available in different sizes and colours) is loaded with subtle value added features.One can carry a surprising amount of dry items and moisture sensitive gear in this large sized dry sack, like, an ENTIRE change of clothes, including footwear (river sandals) and outerwear (Pertex vest), plus an ultra-light sleeping bag, small electronics and batteries, tools, paper documents, and a mini microfiber towel.Although top loading and roll-down sealed, the contents can be viewed right down to the bottom through the clear flexible vinyl acetate window. The body is composed of very strong, thin, ultralight and translucent diamond cross-hatched ripstop nylon material intrinsically mixed with polyurethane (not just a coating).Space (in a bag or pack) is not wasted because excess air can be compressed out of it quite easily through the release valve. Because it is seam sealed along the sides, it tends to lie flat much like a large Camelbak reservoir.Everything within stays clean, dry, and amply protected. Between this dry sack and my trusty Pelican boxes I have no concerns about unexpected immersion around water. My thinking is, I got a larger one than I really needed, but heck it can compress and shrink down to a soda can size, but if I got one that was too small, I couldn't make it expand to a larger volume no matter how much I wished it so.This whole lightweight, compacted and organized module slides smoothly into and out of my pack for quick access.As you may have guessed already from my other reviews, there are some unintended applications for this dry sack also. First, it makes an effective flotation device, loaded or unloaded, if you leave the air inside intentionally. In fact, with a little imagination, one can think of many situations where a strong impermeable bag that can hold a volume of air/gases might come in handy, some innocent, like as an air pillow/camp cushion, emergency breath of air (smoke escape mask), first aid dressing or splint... and other more "tactical" uses.I have successfully breathed the whole 25 liters of air (about 4 breaths) out through the little purge valve, so I have an idea of what might be done in an emergency.It can be used for anything that a bag can be used for (carrying stuff... duh) and for food, can be hung in the tree as a bear bag or immersed in the river as a cooler. I suppose it can be used as a narrow, awkward map case too, or perhaps an improvised rainproof lantern or light holder.Conversely, because it is completely waterproof, IT CAN HOLD WATER in a survival situation. You can use it as a drinking water bladder, UV water disinfection station (by leaving the clear window exposed to the untreated water within), a solar warmed shower, and nothing says the liquid is limited to water, nor the state of matter within to necessarily be gas or liquid only (though I wouldn't try plasma in it, mate).I'm very pleased with this product and so far it has held up to some intermediate abuse without much visible wear or damage. I worry that the seams around the window or the window itself will fail first, but so far it has been tip top. So it gets my top marks.
